SOUND STORIES

Hunuc was the first settler Huarpe, from the territories of Cuyo, Argentina and a strong desire He had in his heart: the need to be loved. He started talking to the animals in the area about this and He received the wisest advice from the guanaco, He told  that his wish would be fulfilled with the arrival of a woman, with whom He could have children and, in this way, not be alone in the world. He decided to talk to his parents.

After a long and exhausting climb, He climbed to the top of Mercedario hill, where the wind Zonda asked him in a whisper, if he wanted to talk to his mother, the mountain. When He arrived with his mother the mountain, He told her everything. She told him that, in order for the first woman (axe) to be born, Xumuc the sun and Chuma the moon must merge into an eclipse of the sun. Thus He wait for the moment where Huar was born, the first axe on earth.

Hunuc to meet her was lost in love and swore to give her eternal love. She also fell in love with him and together they brought joy to the world.

ECLIPSE

Eclipse presented a real-time sonic interpretation of a natural solar eclipse, offering an immersive sound journey deeply rooted in the ancestral cosmovision of the Huarpe community.

The live sound design unfolded in synchrony with the eclipse as it occurred, creating a unique performative experience where a natural solar eclipse was sonically interpreted in real time. The narrative explored the origin and spiritual rebirth of the Huarpe people, as told through their cosmovision and connection to celestial events.

The work premiered as part of a major public event that gathered over 25,000 attendees for the live transmission of the solar eclipse. The sound design was performed live, in intervention format, accompanying the eclipse’s natural progression with ancestral storytelling and immersive sound textures.
