YUNGAS

Yungas Ecosystem and the Cosmovision of Pre-Columbian Cultures of Northwest Argentina.

This soundscape is inspired by the ecosystem where the Pre-Columbian cultures of Northwest Argentina (NOA) developed their cosmovision. The sonic representation of the Yungas ecosystem is an original sound design, created using audiovisual techniques such as Foley (sound creation) and curated sound libraries.

The work is based on prior scientific research, which focused on the Yungas region of Salta as the primary area of study, enabling an authentic and respectful portrayal of both the natural and cultural environment.

The analysis and creative process involved collaboration with ethnomusicologists, anthropologists, and scientists specializing in nature, enriching the project through diverse disciplinary perspectives.

The narrative script is original and incorporates techniques of audiovisual linearity, rhythmic sequencing, field recording, and elements of ancestral musical practices—merging art, science, and territory into an immersive experience.
